PROJECT FOR SETTING UP RFID AUTOMATION SYSTEM FOR THE ZONE STOCK TRACKING AND PRODUCTION

Objective

Today, the use of RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology in automation applications is very common. The most important reasons for this are programmability, having different working distances, reduced costs and labour. Libraries, product tracking and classification, vehicle tracking and parking systems, manufacturing sector, tracking of personnel, equipment and product in light and heavy industry, health sector, automatic tall collection systems are just a few of the fields of application.

With the use of RFID system, we aim at reducing costs associated with labour, time and efficiencies, ensuring proper distribution of operating assets and, with the use of new technology, increasing our competitive capacity and strengtening the organizational structure.

Rfid Technology

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is the technology that allows data to be transmitted via radio waves on the electromagnetic spectrum, with the purpose of automatically identifying and differentiating physical objects. RFID technology is increasingly finding use in highways, luggage tracking in airlines, cargo transportation, hospitals, libraries, the tracking and automation process of factories, manufacturing and logistics. The major advantage of all kinds of RFID system is that they work contactlessly (no contact is necessary).

RFID system is basically classified in two forms. The first one is called active RFID technology. A Mobile device (also called transponder or tag) is attached to (embedded in) an object or integrated into an object. On the other hand, ther are zone readers on site. The reader reads data by making contact with mobiles when the objects are within the coverage zone. In general, zone readers are directly fed from power line, but they can also be battery operated. On the other hand, mobile devices are battery operated devices. In this technology, mobile devicescan transiently be sensed / read from moredistant points.

The second form of RFID technology is passive RFID technology. This technology comprises of two basic components which are the reader and electronic tag. Objects carry RFID tags which stores dynamic information about the object. RFID readers, on the other hand, can pick-up  (perceive) these tags from long distance and thus identify the object. The magneticfield emanating from the reader both gives power to electronic tag and conducts the correspondence  with electronic tag.

It helps instantaneous tracking the location and status of on-site stock vehicles, which are identifed as DOK at production site (500.000 sqm) and which can carry up to 15.000 meters of fabric. For this operation active RFID technology is used. Difficulties in finding fabric stock vehicles (doks) to be processed and labour loss are prevented and thus the delay in production is avoided.
